November is the start of Bali’s wet season, and it is one of the quietest, cheapest months of the year. Mornings are often clear, afternoon storms build, and the rice country turns green again. If you can handle a daily rain window, you get low prices and relaxed streets before the Christmas peak.

Weather: Rain Builds Through the Month

The south averages roughly 130-200mm in November, rising through the month. Highs are 30-32C, and humidity returns to 80-85%. Showers tend to arrive in the late afternoon, sometimes as heavy tropical downpours with thunder. Ubud and the central hills receive more rain than the coast, while Lovina, Amed and the northeast remain the driest areas. Seas can turn choppier.

In Kintamani, daytime highs are 20-24C with growing cloud and mist. Sunrise at Mount Batur becomes less reliable as the month goes on, so book a flexible tour. See BMKG for forecasts.

Crowds and Prices

November is the quietest stretch of the year apart from January and February. Australian school holidays are over, European travel is at a low, and many hotels and villas drop rates 20-35% from August as of 2026. The cheapest window is the first three weeks. Rates rise in the last week as Christmas bookings build, and for 20 December onward, our Bali in December guide explains the spike. Compare areas in where to stay in Canggu and where to stay in Ubud.

Long Stays and Remote Work

November suits longer stays: monthly villa and apartment rates are negotiable and Canggu’s cafes and coworking spaces are less busy. Our Bali long-stay guide covers monthly rates and areas.

Surf and Sea

Swell patterns shift in November. The Bukit breaks lose their consistent offshore winds, while the east coast and Sanur reef can work with west winds. Conditions vary day to day; check forecasts and surf mornings. See surfing in Bali. Visibility on the south coast starts to decline as rain brings runoff, while Amed and Tulamben stay more reliable. Mola mola season has ended, but manta rays are present at Nusa Penida. See Bali diving. Fast boat crossings can be rough on stormy days.

Culture and Festivals

There is no major island-wide closure in November, and Galungan does not fall in this month in 2026 or 2027. Odalan and village ceremonies carry on; see Bali festivals.

What to Do

Plan outdoor sights for mornings. Waterfalls begin to flow again, so see Bali waterfalls and note that trails can get slippery. Rice terrace walks are lush; see rice terrace walks. Afternoons suit spas, cafes and classes. Browse Bali waterfall tours or Ubud tours.

Packing and Booking Tips for November

Pack a light waterproof, quick-dry clothes, a dry bag and shoes with grip. Book accommodation with a covered terrace or indoor workspace if you plan to stay longer. Our Bali airport transfer page helps with arrivals during storms, and the fast boats Bali guide explains cancellations in rough seas. If you rent a scooter, check the Bali scooter rental guide first, as wet roads are the biggest risk.

Verdict

November is Bali on a budget: low prices, thin crowds and green scenery. Accept an afternoon rain window and it is a very good month.
