June is dry, comfortable and busy in the right ways. Rain is rare, humidity drops, the Bukit surf is at its best, and the Bali Arts Festival fills Denpasar with performances. Crowds and prices rise in the last week of the month as school holidays start, so the first half of June is the sweet spot.

Weather on the Coast and in the Hills
Southern Bali sees roughly 50-80mm of rain in June, spread across just a few short showers. Days are 29-31C and sunny, humidity is moderate, and the sea is clear and warm. Ubud is a degree cooler and still green around the edges of the paddies.
The island starts to feel cool at night. In Kintamani, daytime highs are 21-24C and nights fall to 13-16C, so bring a jumper for a pre-dawn Batur sunrise trek; summit views are dependable this month. The same applies in Bedugul and around the highland lakes. Rainfall and temperature outlooks are published by BMKG.
Bali Arts Festival
The Bali Arts Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali) is Bali’s largest annual cultural event, running for roughly a month from mid-June at the Taman Werdhi Budaya arts centre in Denpasar. The 2026 edition ran from 13 June to 11 July with free admission. It features gamelan competitions, Barong and Kecak performances, and craft stalls, and it is a good way to see Balinese performing arts in one place. Check dates with the organisers before you plan. For other events see Bali festivals. Galungan fell in June 2026 (17 June, Kuningan 27 June), but does not return until January 2027.
School Holidays and Prices
Rates stay moderate for the first two weeks, then climb as Australian winter holidays begin in the last week of the month, with exact dates varying by state, and as European and North American travel builds. Expect villas and beach-side hotels to cost roughly 10-25% more than in May as of 2026, and popular rooms in Ubud and Canggu to need booking a month or two ahead. Compare areas in where to stay in Canggu and where to stay in Ubud.
Surf: Season in Full Swing
June is prime time for the Bukit Peninsula. Southeast swell lines up at Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin and Impossibles, offshore morning winds hold the faces clean, and wave heights are often 1.5-3m. These are advanced breaks. Beginners are better off at Kuta, Legian or a lesson at Canggu’s Batu Bolong. Our surfing in Bali guide has break-by-break notes. Spectators can watch from the Uluwatu cliffs and book an evening Uluwatu Kecak performance.
Diving and Marine Life
Visibility is excellent around Amed, Tulamben and Nusa Penida. Manta rays are present all year, and the first mola mola (sunfish) arrive near Crystal Bay toward the end of the month, building into the peak in July-October. See Bali diving and Nusa Penida snorkelling.
Trips and Tours
Dry weather makes this the easiest month to link sights into a day: Tegallalang at 8am, Tirta Empul by noon, coffee plantations after lunch. Browse Ubud tours or Bali day trips.
Packing and Booking Tips for June
Bring a fleece or light jacket for Kintamani and highland dawns, a sarong for temples and reef-safe sunscreen. Book Uluwatu Kecak seats and sunset restaurants a day or two ahead, since cliffside tables fill. If you plan to arrive in the last week of June, book villas now: school-holiday demand lifts rates fast. Our Bali airport transfer guide helps with pre-booked pickups, and fast boats to the islands should be booked a few days early.
Verdict
Come in the first half of June for dry weather, big surf and the arts festival without July’s crowds.
