Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Records 18 Cancellations and 65 Delays on 8 June
Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) recorded 18 cancelled flights and 65 delayed departures on 8 June 2026, with Batik Air accounting for 15 of the cancellations. Garuda Indonesia, Super Air Jet, Lion Air and Citilink were among the other carriers affected, alongside international services from Emirates and Thai Airways operating through the hub.
The disruption pattern at Jakarta was part of a broader wave of regional aviation turbulence across Southeast Asia and the Middle East on the same day, linked in part to ongoing airspace coordination challenges as regional carriers adjust to restricted zones. Passengers who had booked onward connections through Soekarno-Hatta for inter-island itineraries or international departures experienced delays of several hours on affected services.
For travellers currently in or passing through Jakarta, the immediate impact has been the longest on passengers holding Batik Air tickets, where the cancellation volume was highest. Rebooking queues at Soekarno-Hatta’s Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 were reported as significantly extended during the afternoon and evening of 8 June. As of 10 June, normal flight operations have largely resumed, but passengers booked on Batik Air and Lion Air services in the coming days are advised to confirm their flight status directly before travelling to the airport.
Soekarno-Hatta is Indonesia’s busiest international gateway and handles the majority of connections to Bali, Lombok and the eastern archipelago. Travellers using Bali or Lombok as their primary destinations and routing via Jakarta should build additional buffer time into their itineraries for the remainder of June, particularly on low-cost carrier connections which have fewer rebooking options in the event of further disruption.
We recommend downloading your airline’s app before departing for the airport, registering for flight status notifications, and reviewing our Indonesia safety guide for general guidance on managing disruptions during your trip. Travellers with travel insurance covering flight cancellations can find comparison options and policy details on our Indonesia travel insurance page. If your flight is cancelled at Soekarno-Hatta, Indonesian aviation regulations entitle you to a full refund or rebooking on the next available service; request written confirmation of the cancellation at the check-in desk.
