Visiting Indonesia in July — Weather, Peak Season & Travel Tips
July is Bali and Indonesia’s peak tourist month. Western school summer holidays, Australian winter holidays, and Japanese holiday periods converge, pushing occupancy at popular hotels to near 100% and prices to their annual highest. The weather is outstanding — dry, sunny, and breezy. If you are flexible on timing, late June or early September offer near-identical conditions with noticeably lower prices. If July is your window, book everything at least three months out.

| Raja Ampat | 30 | High (260mm) | 83% | Rough — avoid open water |
Wet vs Dry: Regional Overview
Bali and Lombok: The driest month of the year. Rainfall is negligible. The southeast trade winds create comfortable temperatures and offshore conditions perfect for surfing at Uluwatu, Padang Padang, and Desert Point on Lombok. Gili Islands (Air, Meno, Trawangan) are at peak season — book bungalows months ahead.
Java: Outstanding. Bromo, Ijen, Borobudur, and Prambanan are all at their best. Ijen’s blue flame is visible on clear nights; sunrise at Bromo is reliable. Trekking on all major volcanoes is at its safest.
Raja Ampat: Peak rough season. Liveaboard operators reduce or suspend schedules. Stick to strongly sheltered bays if visiting — Misool in the south is more protected than the north.
North Sulawesi / Bunaken: July is mid-season and conditions are excellent. A strong alternative for divers who would otherwise visit Raja Ampat.
