Jimbaran sits on a sheltered bay just south of the airport - close enough to the coast of Kuta to be convenient, but with a markedly different character. The bay itself is calm and well-protected, the beach is clean and sandy, and the southern end hosts the famous seafood warung strip that draws visitors from across Bali for evening meals. At the north end, Jimbaran merges into the busy roads approaching the airport; at the south, the limestone headland begins and the road leads into the Bukit Peninsula toward Uluwatu.

The accommodation range in Jimbaran is unusually wide: simple village guesthouses coexist alongside some of Bali’s most celebrated five-star resorts.
The resort strip: southern Jimbaran Bay
The main luxury concentration runs along the southern arc of the bay, from the AYANA area down toward the fish market. These properties have direct beach access on the calmer inner bay and are set well back from the airport flight path.

Luxury resorts (IDR 3,000,000+ / USD 190+ per night)
-
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay - Jimbaran’s most iconic address. Private villa compounds in traditional Balinese style cascade down to a private beach. Rates start well into the millions of rupiah per night; check live rates. One of the original Four Seasons Asian properties and still widely considered among the best in the group. The thatched-roof pavilion design by the original 1993 architects remains unchanged - a genuine architectural landmark.
-
AYANA Resort Bali - Large clifftop resort above the southwestern corner of Jimbaran Bay, famous for the Rock Bar - a cocktail bar built into the rock face at sea level, accessed by funicular. Rooms and villas from IDR 3,500,000–10,000,000 per night. The Rock Bar is one of Bali’s genuinely unmissable sunset spots; non-guests can visit for drinks (smart casual required, queues form from 17:00 in peak season).
-
InterContinental Bali Resort - Well-established large resort on the bay with 418 rooms and a strong reputation for family facilities and service consistency. Rates from IDR 2,500,000–6,000,000 per night. Among the better-value options in the Jimbaran luxury tier given the resort scale and beach position.
-
Rimba Jimbaran Bali by AYANA - AYANA’s adjacent forest-facing property with a more compact resort footprint than the main AYANA. Rooms from IDR 2,500,000–4,500,000 per night. Guests have access to all AYANA facilities including the Rock Bar.
Mid-range (IDR 700,000–2,000,000 / USD 44–125 per night)
- Jimbaran Puri, A Belmond Hotel, Bali - Balinese-style cottages and villas with walled terraces, set in tropical gardens on the bay, with a pool, three dining options and a beach spa. Check live rates, which vary widely by room type and season. More intimate in scale than AYANA or Four Seasons, and a good fit for couples.
Jimbaran village: the budget end
The inland part of Jimbaran village, behind the beach, has a number of family-run guesthouses and simple hotels at significantly lower prices than the resort properties.
- Mid-range hotels with pools near the seafood strip - Several three and four-star hotels sit a short walk from the beach, typically IDR 700,000–1,200,000 per night. A practical option if the luxury properties are out of budget but you still want the Jimbaran bay experience.
The seafood beach strip
The southern end of Jimbaran Bay - between the fish market and the Four Seasons - is lined with seafood restaurants operating on the beach every evening. Tables are set on the sand, candles are lit at dusk, and grilled seafood platters arrive hot from charcoal grills. Fish is sold by weight; a full meal for two with fish, prawns, rice, and vegetables typically costs IDR 200,000–500,000 depending on seafood choice and which warung you eat at.
Three main warung clusters operate in the area: Kedonganan (north, nearest the fish market), Muaya (central, most popular), and Kelan (south, quieter). Muaya is the most visited - arrive by 18:00 to secure beach-front seating.

Practical notes
Airport noise: Ngurah Rai Airport is approximately 5 kilometres north of central Jimbaran. The flight path runs west over the sea - planes approach from the south and take off northward over the Bukit, so airport noise is less of an issue in Jimbaran than in Kuta, which is directly under the approach.
Transport: Jimbaran has no easy walking connection to other Bali tourist areas. A Grab to Kuta takes 20–30 minutes; to Seminyak 30–40 minutes; to Ubud 60–75 minutes. Most resort guests hire drivers by the day for Bali-wide sightseeing (IDR 400,000–600,000 for 8–10 hours).
